For a Pretty Penny Vol. 2 // New York Cafe

Hey Loves! Welcome back to the Second post in my “For a Pretty Penny” Series. Sorry, it has been so long. I was incredibly busy during the month of August. I just got back from camp, and have been trying to readjust to city life and school. I hope to be posting more regularly during the school year. So please bear with me while I get back into my groove.

Welcome back to the Second post in my “For a Pretty Penny” Series. This time around I’m here to talk about a totally slept on cafe/restaurant, The New York Cafe It’s right on the corner of Broadview and Danforth. It is the holy grail of great and cheap meals! They make amazing breakfasts and lunches (I’ve never been there for dinner but I’m sure that would be just as good) New York Cafe is perfect if you’re super hungry but don’t want to pig out at McDonald’s and also don’t want to spend more than $15 on a meal. They’ve got a great Tea/coffee/juice and eggs, sausage, toast and home fries meal for only $5!!! You couldn’t even get that good of a deal at Tim Hortons! They’re open from 7 am to 10 pm so there is lots of time during the day to drop by. Bring some friends and enjoy the friendly, chatty atmosphere. Take a stroll through Greek Town afterwards and get to know your city!

Catch ya next time 🙂

For a pretty penny

Hey loves! As mentioned in my last post, I want to show you guys a few hidden gems in Toronto. While trying to brainstorm some ideas, I came up with a little series. It is called “For a Pretty Penny”. I’m basically going to look into finding good but cheap places for you to get your money’s worth. So many things in Toronto are super expensive. If you’re not careful, you can EASILY find yourself going well over your budget. If you’re like me and don’t want to pay crazy prices, I gotchu.

Toronto Eats: Short and Sweet

This is the cutest bake shop I’ve ever been to. I have been stalking their instagram for months now! They’ve got the craziest icing filled cookies, jumbo hot chocolates and cupcakes. This is definitely the place you go to when you’re trying to avoid the winter struggles. The cute environment and happy staff really tie it together. They’ve got a pink neon sign that says “Butter Cream Dreams” and I’m all for it! I got the Cake! Cake! Cake! Hot chocolate with whipped cream and a vanilla cake topping. This is definitely a go-to place if you live/ find your self in the Yonge and Eg area 🙂

You can find them on 2025 Yonge ST or 1945 Avenue RD

Overall I think this place deserves a solid 4.2/5

Toronto Eats: Lil Baci

Lil Baci is an Italian restaurant near Yonge and Davisville (they also have a location near Queen and Carlaw) This quaint restaurant is great for brunch, lunch and dinner. They offer lovely soups, sandwiches, pasta and pizzas. The location itself is very modern and marble filled. It’s not too busy on weekdays during lunch hour but on the weekends it tends to get pretty packed. The ambience is so great, the waitresses are super engaging and really make the experience better. One of the waitresses noticed me taking pictures for my blog and she said ” I wish I had known, I would’ve been much nicer” then giggled a bit. This really goes to show how quirky and fun their staff are.  I got the Rigatoni Pasta with a beef and pork ragu. It was absolutely divine, the combination of pork and beef with the cheesy pasta was perfect for a cold winter day! As a tea lover, I was incredibly impressed with the tea menu. They have a few speciality tea blends that all seemed intriguing. Check out their menu  and definitely stop by one of their locations.

Toronto Eats: The Starving Artist

The Starving Artist at St Clair and Glenholme had the best ambience. We walked in and I felt very comfortable and somewhat hype. The music was so great, I can’t even lie I was jamming the whole time. This is great for fun lunch or breakfast with friends or family.

The Waffle focused restaurant offers a crazy good menu. There were so many options and they were all so different. I went with the Chicken Bacon Waffle which had chicken and bacon (obviously), havarti cheese, cucumbers and their secret sauce. It came with a side of fresh fruits and a salad. It all tasted very fresh and very good. I would definitely go back!  Rate:  ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ / 5
