Trying to live your best life this year?

Welcome to my first post of 2018! Now that the first 2 weeks are over I can officially say that I see good things for this year. I have not managed to come up with a set list of resolutions but my main goal is to stay happy and healthy.  This year I want to see what I’m capable of doing. I’m just trying to live my best life because if you’re not living your best life, what are you doing?

Here are my top 5 tips on how to achieve your goals and how to live your honest to god best life!

Be honest with yourself

If things are not going as well as you wish, don’t cover it up. Allow for yourself to be a little upset. When I say a little upset I mean, don’t dwell too much on the negative things. Reflect and Recover should be two words that you remind yourself of when you’re feeling down.

Do things that make you happy

You are your #1 fan. If you’re taking care of yourself and doing things that you truly enjoy you’ll feel as if your time is being used wisely. Although I’ve been incredibly busy, it all feels worth it because I am doing what I love. With doing what makes you happy, comes with trying to stick to new skills. Don’t just give up because they’re hard. It may not be easy but you started it for a reason. Why not walk away with the ability to say you did it?

Manage your time

As great as doing your own thing is, everyone has responsibilities. To maximize the amount of time you spend doing what you love, prioritize what needs to be done. Do not procrastinate! A good way to manage your time is by buying a planner or something that helps you keep track of what you need to do. On Sunday nights, I like to write out the tasks I have to complete throughout the week. It’s a great way to organise your time because you know what you need to do and you also know what your week looks like.

I’ve said this before on my blog but sleep is so important! I cannot stress enough how much 8-9 hours of sleep helps! It’s perfect because it lets your body stay alert and energised. If you are well rested you will feel more motivated to go out and try new things. Sleeping also helps your brain work more effectively making things like work and school easier to tackle.

Pick up a book!

As a child, I used to read all the time. A couple years ago I stopped putting time aside for recreational reading because it took too long. I’ve recently gotten back into reading and it really helped me understand more about the world and how it works. There are tons of books out there and all you’ve gotta do is find a few that work for you. Personally, I like reading a lot of memoirs and books that are based on topics I find interesting. For example, I’m currently reading #GirlBoss by Sophia Amoruso and The Year of Yes by Shonda Rhimes. The two books have been written by amazing women who have achieved amazing things. I find that reading about their lives really triggers my interest. Reading teaches you way more than you could possibly imagine. So walk into a Chapters, an indigo, a small local bookstore or even a library and pick something that works for you!

Those are my tips on how to make the most of your 2018! I hope at least one of these work for you 🙂

Stay Groovy
